Who can access the data?

A distinction is made between legal entities and natural persons. The personal data of a legal entity is completely accessible to everyone.

In the case of a natural person, there are restrictions under point 7. The following two conditions apply:

  • Domain holders: can enter the postal code or e-mail address registered with the domain under point 7. If the entry is correct, the domain holders will receive an e-mail with a URL where the contents of points 1 to 7 are communicated, including the personal data of the domain holder.

  • Third parties: can access forms under point 7 and send them to DENIC. If there is a legitimate interest, the third party will be provided with the information relating to points 1 to 7, including the domain holder's personal data.

Caution!

When submitting domain CREATE and domain UPDATE requests, please ensure that you specify the correct person type!

  • ORG: legal entities, personal data is publicly available

  • PERSON: natural persons, personal data is only disclosed to the domain holder or authorised third parties upon request

Annual notification to domain holders

Members should inform domain holders on an annual basis about which data is published when a domain query is made (DENIC website) and whether personal data is published as a natural person or legal entity. This gives domain holders the opportunity to correct their personal data and change the person type (‘PERSON’ or ‘ORG’).
