We have compiled information that is relevant for achieving the highest possible order throughput.
Explanations
Requests
This term refers to all requests that are sent to the DENIC registration system via the RRI protocol, excluding logins and logouts.
Access Control Limit (ACL)
The throughput of requests per registration account is determined by a time interval and depends on whether these requests are sent to RRI Live or RRI Rush.
Quota
For registration accounts, specific amounts or quotas of requests are available. A quota is valid for one month and contains a specific daily amount of requests that you can be used. If you do not use the maximum number of requests per day, the remaining requests will expire. The next day, the maximum number of requests is available again. The basic registration account consists of an inclusive quota with at least 50,000 requests per day and can be increased by booking additional quotas. In addition, there are registration accounts that only have additional quotas. Additional quotas that have been booked (e-mail with master key) at the latest 5 days before the end of a month are activated at the beginning of the following month.
For more information, see the Registration Accounts and Quotas.
Out-of-Band Deletion
With an out-of-band deletion, the domain holder waives the redemption grace period (RGP) by means of a waiver. The RGP ends at a time determined by DENIC at the latest on the first working day (Monday to Friday with the exception of 24.12., 31.12. and public holidays in Hesse, Germany) after receipt of the waiver by DENIC.
Purge Phase
Between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. (CE(S)T), DENIC releases all domains for new registration for which the redemption grace period has expired by midnight of the previous day (purge phase).
Session
A session corresponds to one login to the RRI. For each registration account, up to 7 parallel sessions are possible.
Redemption Grace Period
The Redemption Grace Period or RGP in short is a 30-day period. If a registrar deletes a domain this domain will then be in the RGP. During this 30-day period, the registrar and the domain holder can reconnect the domain if they wish.
RRI Live and RRI Rush
RRI Live and RRI Rush are environments of the DENIC registration system. RRI Rush is specifically tailored to drop catching. The maximum number of requests that can be submitted in RRI Live during the purge phase is limited. Members wishing to send more requests during the purge phase can use RRI Rush.
Registration Account
Via a registration account, you send requests to DENIC. Your membership includes one registration account, the primary or basic registration account. You may obtain further registration accounts against payment with a minimum contract term of 6 months.
Registration Accounts and Quotas
Basic Registration Account
Your membership includes a registration account with a monthly basic quota, which you can use up without additional costs being charged. The number of requests per day is calculated as follows:
| Your domain inventory is less than or equal to 50,000 domains? | Your domain inventory exceeds 50.000 domains? |
|---|---|
| 50,000 requests |
|
-
With your basic quota, you can access RRI Live.
-
Unlimited numbers of additional quotas, each comprising 50,000 requests per day, may be obtained against payment.
Registration Accounts in RRI Live
A total of 10 registration accounts can be used for RRI Live. The first registration account is your basic registration account. The additional 9 registration accounts are used against charge and contain a monthly quota for each additional registration account, consisting of:
-
For your registration accounts, you may book additional quotas comprising 50,000 requests per day each.
-
You can book additional quotas indefinitely.
| Notice | If you have not yet registered any domains as a
new member but booked additional registration
accounts for RRI Live, the number of requests in
the monthly quotas is zero (0), according to the
above calculation. By initially adding additional quotas, you have orders for the additional registration accounts available. Additional quotas have a term of 6 months. |
Registration Accounts in RRI Rush
In RRI Rush, the number of additional accounts is not restricted. For all registration accounts in RRI Rush, quotas (50,000 requests per day) must be booked against charge.
| Notice | With an additional quota, you can either access RRI Live or RRI Rush, depending on whether this additional quota has been booked for a registration account in the RRI Live or the RRI Rush environment. |
ACL on RRI Live and RRI Rush
RRI Live
| Number of requests | Number of requests in the purge phase |
|---|---|
| 2,000 per minute | 200 per minute |
RRI Rush
| Number of requests | Number of requests in the purge phase |
|---|---|
| 2,000 per minute | 2,000 per minute |
Drop Catching
If you offer drop catching for domains, it is recommended to work in RRI Rush and use registration accounts with 4 quotas each.
Based on the ACL of 2,000 requests in RRI Rush and given the 2-hours purge phase between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m., a maximum number of 240,000 requests per registration account results:
You can find a detailed description and price examples on our website on the topic of drop catching.
